Project 2: Synopsis

TITLE: "Maloik, the Gigil Purple Titi"


SYNOPSIS

During Sage’s deep slumber, terrifying, cursed, and confusing dreams plague her mind. However, the rising sun does not save her from all the bad luck, mystery, violence, and blackouts that soon consume her life. Sage starts losing herself for hours during the day, starts to feel constantly watched, and soon people around her start disappearing or found mutilated in the woods. 

While the town races to catch a serial killer, Sage struggles to stay in reality when her dreams and hallucinations start coming to life. Despite all the confusion and illusions plaguing her life, she keeps seeing a strange, cute, purple monkey, with crazy eyes watching and teasing her from a distance. Whenever anything sinister or mysterious occurs to Sage, that purple titi is always in close range mocking, yet nobody else sees it. Sage races to find the culprit who has taken her friends and sanity; in hopes of ending whatever kind of curse that is plaguing herself and the town.

Setting: 

Time Period: 1990s

Location: Town near woods in NorthEastern US, sorta secluded; has a large Italian and Latin American population, yet population of like 3,000. 


Main Characters:

Sage: Ordinary teenage girl, with slight obsession of mystery/thriller books before events unfold. Starts to have vivid nightmares, which soon seem to escape into reality. Slowly becomes paranoid, erratic and different. Tries to solve the mystery and horrors of town/friends.

The Purple Titi: A cute small monkey with crazy eyes, that seems to guide, trick, watch, etc. Sage in her dreams or reality, but always keeps a distance. 

Parents: Went to visit family, but has yet to return. Strange.

Brother (Willow): A mystery, tries to avoid Sage.

Friends: Generic friends, most go missing or dead. Don’t understand Sage’s delusions. Sage has suspicions of her one old childhood friend, Lavender, who no longer likes Sage and has a "violent history".

The culprit: It's Sage, but not really. She's crazy, yes. But her dreams are in fact somewhat coming to life, though those around her don't see it. Sage is the culprit, but many different versions of her have left her mind.
