Discussion #3: Identity Design

Logos:

While looking at these corporate logos, you can see the simplicity through shape and color shown. In these examples you see either the type directly effecting the logo, or just being properly placed with the icon. All the ones shown above, are very playful, showing direct correlation to the corporates name. I think that looking at these simple and playful logos will really help in understanding logos that aren't just famous and use their name to still identify with them. Corporate logos are some of the best logos to look at for  business first starting out, because not everyone recognizes or know what the org is about. While looking at these logos you can see the obvious use of Gestalt, use of a small color palette, and simple yet telling illustrations/imagery. When creating a logo it is really hard  to consider what is important  and what one can cut out. Personally I have trouble with illustrating too much when creating a logo. The goal of the logo for an org is to get a simple sense of what purpose that organization has. I hope that by studying these more I may understand that the type and icon can be separate, but still unified, without the words being apart of the illustration. They give me ideas of being more playful with the name of org, instead of trying to fit them into the illustration. Though my org is more series, I still think having a more playful effect will get the attention of youths, which is technically the target audience for the org.
